As we are aware that, the Lao Red Cross is one of the social organization in Lao PDR, has the role as auxiliary to the government in humanitarian work, to help the most vulnerable people in remote areas and during the time of the disaster hit.
Since the beginning of year 2001 LRC and its partners focused on the four core Programmer areas, which mentioned in the 1st Strategic Plan (2001-2005) such as:
- Disaster Preparedness and Response
- Community health promotion and blood program
- Information and fund raising
- Organizational Development and International Relations
More over the second Strategic Plan (2006-2010) of the Lao Red Cross , all the above mentioned core areas have to be continued , followed and implemented.
As we can see the Disaster Preparedness is one of the priorities of the LRC, in order to cope with disaster response on time in providing relief items to the victims.
The JRCC support in kind of clothes is also an outstanding support in the disaster preparedness.
The JRCC has supported LRC from 1993 until now. Besides LRC headquarters, the number of 14 Lao Red Cross provincial branches have also received the such support, with the total amount so far of more than USD 350,000.
In order to achieve successfully this mandate, the Lao Red Cross also has contributed the transportation cost with the amount more than 150 million kip, to deliver the relief clothes to the vulnerable people in the remote areas,
The very huge support above from JRCC has proved the very good cooperation and assistance to Lao Red Cross as well as Lao people as a whole, of which we really acknowledge this support, as it is one of the many components to contribute to the poverty reduction in Lao PDR.
In order to certify the very good cooperation of the JRCC, the Lao government as well as Lao Red Cross took the opportunity to award a honorable Labor Medal to the President of JRCC, Mr. Kazuo KASUGA, for the very kind attempt to support Lao Red Cross.
On behalf of the Lao Government as well as the Lao Red Cross, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the JRCC for their valuable contributions to the poverty reduction of the Lao people. We look forward for a long lasting partnership and cooperation of JRCC organization in the successful implementation of the Lao government development goals, to overcome all the challenges and to have opportunities to serve the most vulnerable people in remote areas.
The Lao Red Cross took this opportunity to express and send the great thanks to the Japanese Government and Japanese people for the long lasting friendship, cooperation and support.
The Lao Red Cross has also organized a Baci ceremony for welcoming and greetings all the guests, following Lao tradition.
